Terms of Service

1. Agreement and eligibility

By accessing the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. An account holder must be age 18 or older and able to form a binding agreement in their location. A parent or legal guardian must manage every dependent learner profile.

2. Accounts

Provide accurate information, keep sign-in access secure, and notify us of suspected misuse. You are responsible for activity under your account. Children do not receive account, payment, or contact credentials. Organization and school administrators must limit access to authorized adults under a separate written agreement.

3. Educational purpose

Afaan supports language and cultural learning but does not guarantee fluency, grades, admission, certification, employment, or a particular educational outcome. School tools support educators and do not replace their professional judgment.

4. Travel information

Explore Oromia content is educational and planning information, not a guarantee of safety, accessibility, opening hours, prices, weather, transport, or local requirements. Confirm current conditions with official and local sources before travel.

5. Acceptable use

• Do not harm, harass, exploit, or endanger another person.
• Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with security, scrape at scale, or distribute malicious code.
• Do not upload unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or inappropriate content.
• Do not use child or school features to collect information unrelated to learning.
• Do not misrepresent affiliation with Afaan, a school, or a community organization.

6. Content and intellectual property

Afaan and its licensors retain rights in the application, curriculum, recordings, writing, design, software, and brand materials. A limited, personal, non-transferable right is granted to use the Services under these Terms. User content remains yours, while you grant us the limited permission needed to host and operate it.

7. Subscriptions and payment

Afaan offers automatically renewing Individual and Family subscriptions. The price, billing period, applicable taxes, included features, trial eligibility, and renewal terms are shown by the applicable payment provider before purchase. Website subscriptions are processed by Stripe, iOS subscriptions by Apple In-App Purchase, and Android subscriptions by Google Play Billing.

Unless cancelled before renewal, a subscription may renew for the selected monthly or annual period and the applicable payment account will be charged. Website subscribers can manage or cancel through Afaan’s secure billing portal, Apple subscribers in Apple Account subscription settings, and Android subscribers in Google Play account settings. Cancellation stops future renewal; access ordinarily continues through the already-paid period. Refund requests are handled by the provider that processed the purchase and under applicable law.

Referral codes and Stripe discounts apply only where displayed during website checkout. They do not change an Apple or Google Play in-app price. Family features are for the account owner and authorized household learner profiles; they may not be resold or shared outside the household. School arrangements require a separate written agreement.

Accepted influencers receive a unique account-linked code and a program message from Afaan Influencer Relations. Before earning, the influencer must use the secure portal to submit a current government-issued photo ID and Afaan must approve it, unless a super administrator records a formal identity exception. An authorized administrator must then separately enable the earnings switch. IDs must not be sent by email. A code may not be used on the influencer’s own account or promoted deceptively. Trial starts, cancelled trials, failed payments, and payments confirmed before earnings are enabled do not create commission. After earnings are enabled and Stripe verifies an eligible post-trial payment, the influencer earns the displayed commission on the pre-discount, pre-tax subscription amount. Earnings may be held for the disclosed refund window; refunds reverse the related commission, including by offsetting a future payout. The influencer portal is a reporting ledger, not a bank account, and a payout is complete only when Afaan records the external payment.

8. Apple-specific terms

For the Afaan Ecosystem iOS app, Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for the Services. To the extent these Terms conflict with Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, Apple’s terms control for the licensed iOS application. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as they relate to the iOS application.

9. Service changes, suspension, and account deletion

Features may change as the product improves. We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address serious misuse, legal requirements, security, fraud, or safety. You may stop using the Services at any time. Signed-in iOS and Android users can permanently delete their account and associated active application data under Me → Settings → Account → Delete account. You may also use the Account deletion page. Account deletion does not automatically cancel a subscription managed by Apple, Google Play, or Stripe.

10. Disclaimers and responsibility

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided without a promise that they will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every learner or purpose. You remain responsible for account security, appropriate adult supervision, and decisions based on educational or travel information. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms when the Services, payment options, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised Terms, update the effective date, and provide additional notice when required. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
